To My Neighbor

I lift you higher,
lift you out
of your body cells
stuffed with anxiety
of your past -
an evil load that smells.

I'll fill each cell
with love and joy
that makes the
angels dance.
You'll glide through earthly
filth and stench -
a spiritual trance.

From your youth filled eyes,
your hands
and feet,
a holy peace shall flow,
so you and I
be filled with grace -
let us be still
and know.

Seelentränen

Seelentränen sind Gedichte,
rot mit Herzblut aufgeschrieben,
tiefem Menschenleid zum Ruhm,

Lies sie still in reinem Lichte,
unbeschattet,
frei von Trieben:
Du betrittst ein Heiligtum.

Gedichte von William Hermanns

G013

       Herbstballade

 Ein Weib im grauen Haar
schlürft durch den bunten Wald
und kichert vor sich hin.
Die Hand, verdorrt und kalt,
rupft ab und fegt und schlägt,
wirft Blätter in die Luft.
Sie kichert vor sich hin:
"So fahrt ihr in die Gruft!“

Da öffnet sich die Erde,
und kalte Schatten steigen.
Sie legen sich aufs Licht
und tanzen Nebelreigen.
Hoch drüber krächzen Krähen;
dämonisches Gefieder,
es läßt sich schwarz und schwer
auf Stoppelfelder nieder.

Der Tag wird dunkler, trüber,
verödet liegt der Ort.
Nur leise hallen Schritte,
sie ziehen weiter fort;
von fern hört man es kichern,
vom nächsten Waldesrand:
Ich bin das graue Schweigen
und werde Herbst genannt.
